Western Scrub Jays are members of the Corvid family among the smartest in the animal kingdom. Scrub Jays favorite foods are acorns and other nuts. A single Jay can cache up to 5000 nuts, where in leaner times it will retrieve it’s food. In so doing, they assist in generating new growth in forests after a fire.
